What a hectic day yesterday was! My son had to go on a day trip to London, two hours on the train one hour on the coach each way. So he had to be up at five in the morning, and because we don't have a car, my daughter and I walked with him to his college in the pitch black, very exciting if you are twelve, not so exciting if you are thirty six and very tired. Anyway he was very good and sent me a text every time he was on the train/coach so I knew he was okay. Very unusual for him as sometimes his phone mysteriously gets turned off! Oh what to do when one child is away... take the other child shopping with her birthday money. First stop was 'Waterstones bookshop. Where I drooled over 'The gentle art of domesticity' by Jane Brocket of Yarnstorm. I made sure my daughter had noted that this is the book I want for my birthday, I think by repeating over and over, 'this is the book I want for my birthday!'. Other books I have my eye on are 'The Friday night knitting club' and a new book not yet out by Mandy Shaw from Dandelion designs called 'Quilt yourself gorgeous' Not to mention Posy gets cozy's new book! I shall need a new bookcase at this rate.
Anyway my daughter got this book...
I also got, for a mere £2.50, A lovely pink embossed glass jug and four glasses.
Do you see the funny thing in the photo of the book and this last one, its kind of bright and a bit unusual. That is sunshine! Something we have had a lot of the last few days. It is still cold but that sun makes a huge difference, and I have been doing a lot of walking and not so much bus catching which is good. Although it is supposed to snow at the weekend!!!
Thank you all for the comments on my big nosed bunny! They are much appreciated. I am working on another rabbit at the minute. I saw a advertisement for a knitted rabbit in a book I got from the library called 'Good housekeeping Wartime Scrapbook' and I tried to copy it and make it out of felt. I'm not sure about it yet. I don't think I worked out a pattern quite right but I shall continue on with him until he looks respectable....
p.s. I am having a bit of a giggle to myself! I posted this blog entry, and was checking it for mistakes when I realised I had put 'Couch instead of Coach' at the very start, and just had to correct it. That gave me grand images of my son on a traveling sofa whizzing up the motorway!

Glad you're back - I was beginning to get a bit worried for a minute! I was supposed to get Jane Brocket's book for Christmas. As usual, no-one took any notice. I ended up with one about Jack and Bobby Charlton.
I gave you an award. Come and get it!
Love
Jackie
