Finally... Alice.

ALICE.
After much gnashing of teeth and growling at Kodak! I have got some pictures of the Edith Flack Ackley doll I have attempted to make. Please bear in mind she is the first one for me, so she is not perfect, but I am quite pleased with the end result. (She is taken from the pattern 'A little girl doll')
Of course like everything, you make mistakes, you learn from it. I really struggled with her neck and trying to get the crease out and didn't manage it, but I have been lucky to have received advice from the lovely peopl
e from the EdithFlackAckleydolls group and I am at the minute making another doll, (this time she taken from the 'To greet a little girl' doll and slightly larger) so I will hopefully be able to put their advice into practice. The other thing I had trouble with, was her mouth, this is the second attempt at it, the first one looked like she had collagen injections! I had to remind myself that less is more! And her feet... well you know I could go on, I guess we are our own worse critics. There is a lot I love about her too. I was nervous about blushing her cheeks but in the end I just did it and I like it, and it's good that she looks a little worried, she is Alice in wonderland after all, and very confused. I also like the little rabbit even though he was an after thought! Not to mention that I didn't think I would ever be able to put her dress, apron and underwear together but I did it. Hurrah!

Tomorrow... (as this post is full of Alice) my attempt at making the 'Bara Brith' (Welsh teabread) from this months Country living.

Oh, Jennie, she's beautiful! Aren't you clever! And now we know what the little rabbit was for. If I had any 'girly' girls I'd order one! Do you reckon you could do a Ronaldo or a Wayne Rooney?

Good luck with the bara brith - it's chocolate chip cookies over here!

It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful. Words to live by.

I've seen your blog title out there in blog world lately and am glad that you stopped by mine.

See you again soon.

I love your doll's face, you can tell by looking at her she is truly Alice! You should make her your avatar. So happy I "found" you and I am going to try and list you on my blog.
Hugs, Martha

The doll is wonderful. Her smile is very cute! Excellent job.

As a side, comment to Mother's Pride, I would be interested in seeing how a Wayne Rooney doll turned out too. :)
