Oh yes and am I!! It is my daughters birthday tomorrow. I decided to make her a cake. I usually just decide to do things on the spur of the moment and today was one of those days. Firstly I realise I have no eggs and I am right in the middle of making the cake. so I have to call at my parents to borrow a couple of eggs (luckily they live up the street from me and yes they have two!). Usually I mix cakes by hand, but today to save me a little time I used my food processor. Ingredients in, whizzing merrily away, I turn to the sink (my kitchen is small, you turn from the worktop, the sink is there), to wash a bowl I need.... food processor is obviously having a bit of a rebellious day... because it shudders across the work top, crashes to the floor and covers me and most of the kitchen in cake mix. What to do, what to do. It as one of those moment where you stand hands in the air not knowing where on earth to start! (I think I may have felt sorry for myself at this point) Some of the mix was left in the bowl so I managed to scrap together enough for eight fairy cakes, then I cleaned down my lovely boots that I had decided to keep on for some insane reason and my jeans, then I set to work on the floor
and all the cupboards and oh good grief what a nightmare! So I am away to the shops after I pick my daughter up from school and I guess I shall be baking a cake into the wee small hours tonight ready for tomorrow.
Because it is such a 'one of those days' day, I shall not be touching the doll I am working on. I guess she is my WIP. Now don't laugh but it took me ages to work out what WIP meant. I thought it must be some sort of code for crafting bloggers (I warned you earlier that I was like this!) The penny finally dropped yesterday when I exclaimed out loud ooohh 'Work in progress!!' So the doll who is looking so stern will just have to freeze a little longer because today I am not going to even attempt to make her dress because guaranteed.. it'll end in tears.

My goodness! I'm so sorry about the cake, that sounds like something that would happen in my kitchen! I had a horrible moment with my standing mixer this weekend when I noticed that it was on, whirring away at cookie dough and sitting halfway off the countertop. HEART ATTACK. Luckily I caught it, barely. Hope your daughter has a lovely birthday!
Man! That definitely qualifies as "A Day." If it were me, I'd scrap the whole thing and go buy a cake - and then have a martini and a nap.
Any dogs? My dogs would be in hog heaven if I spilled cake batter on the floor.
Happy birthday to the kiddo!
Oh no! Hope you managed to get a replacement cake. At least you've got a clean floor and cupboards!
Tell your daughter Happy Birthday from everyone here! Hope she has a lovely day (with cake)!
Yes, much better not to touch the doll, I know this sort of day very well! She looks very sweet!
Hi jennie,

Long live the Pre-Raphs!
By the way, I haven't read the book about Siddal, but I will definitely look it up. Poor Miss Siddal.
Glad its not just me who has days like that - mine was to make an 8 egg cake and realise that I left the butter out and it was uneatable!
Love the blog,
Peter.

I think your dolly does not look stern- I think she looks a little wistful. What is she thinking, I wonder? You have done a beautiful job so far; I really like her hair!
What an awful mess it must have been. Still things can only get better. Wishing your daughter a very happy birthday.
