Cakie, Laundry and other stuff.

So what do you do with the dressing gown your daughter loves but has grown out of before she had hardly any time to wear it, why you make a bunny of course! Just something I decided to do on a whim yesterday. I've been finishing the 'bunny hop swap' swap, but have yet to make a card, that is where I run out of ideas! I am not a very good card maker! I shall endeavour to try my best though. The parcel has to be posted before the 17th of this month. Wish me luck!! I am not the most organised.
I've been walking a lot lately. I have stolen my daughters 'Hello Kitty' mp3 player and I listen to her 'Mika' songs and 'Gwen Stefani' as I walk. It is supposed to pour down this afternoon, I hope it holds off until I have walked to pick L up. I enjoy walking because this time last year my asthma was so bad I didn't think I'd be able to walk any great length at all.So I have kept up the walking. Have I kept up the whole eating less sugar thing? Well I have apart from this weekend where I fell off the wagon and had some chocolate and some fondant fancies.
I mean who can resist those! My excuse is that it was 'that month thing' and my craving for sugar outweighs any rational thought. It was either eat sugar or kill someone. Anyway am back to three good meals a day and no snacking.
Good news, the Landlady is helping me sort out my utility room (Utility room is too posh really, it is just an extension of the kitchen which used to be sheds). She has agreed that the old cupboards on the wall can come down and shelves can be put there instead. I am going to paint the walls (Am swayed by 'Dulux' Chinese Jade colour) and have white shelves. I am also getting a new small window put in which will be double glazed and one which I can open to air the utility room when I am doing my laundry.
I plan to get some boxes and be organised with my cleaning things and my laundry products. I will have to take before and after pictures so you can see how it turns out.
I have a lot of plans for this house, which unfortunately due to circumstances have been delayed. I am going to attempt to get things moving this summer and try to get my house more like I would like it. I look at all your fabulous homes and hope one day to have a home which I can walk into and say 'Wow I love it here'. Patience, as they say, is a virtue so I must not run away with myself.

I would like to have an organised craft corner as well at the moment part of it looks like this...
I really must learn to put shelves up. Books will look so much better on a shelf rather than piled up. If I could put up shelves then I would have places to put things! I am going to learn how to put up shelves without maiming myself (I fell off a toy box last time I put up any shelves) and without losing half the plaster off the wall. I wish I were more DIY minded. Either that or find myself a fella who is good at DIY!
Thanks for your comments on my last post. I am deeply nostalgic person, I find it easier to look backwards than forwards.
Chocky by the way was a three series children's programme on itv in 1984, based on a novel by John Wyndham author of 'Day of the triffids! It was about a boy who had an imaginary friend who turned out to be an alien. It is something I vaguely remember and would love to see on dvd. (Must put it on my amazon rental list). Although I did that with 'The children of the stones' and I didn't enjoy it as much as I had remembered.
My wrist feels much better now so I shall be catching up on some blogs later!

Well done Jennie on keeping up the walking and the healthy eating plan! And everyone deserves a fondant fancy now and then. (I like the lemon ones best).

Good luck with your DIY - I would send The Fixer if we were nearer! In the meantime, go and look at these craft rooms for some inspiration:

What a good idea - to use your daughter's dressing gown for a bunny. I'm sure she'll enjoy the bunny much more than a too-small dressing gown!

Those fondant fancies do look nice, don't they?

When my ex moved out, I went on a mission to buy storage, storage and more storage - the house looks much tider now!

Hi Jennie
Yes well done on keeping up the walking and healthy eating. I love fondant fancies and always like to put a whole one in my cake hole!!!
It must be a woman spring thing with organizing as I am doing lots too. I think you should definaetely get Brad Pitt to do those shelves,
What a great use of a dressing gown a bunnie.
I vaguely remember that programme chocky as it jogged my memory when I saw it mentioned on your blog. I always remember at school we could watch one episode of "the boy from outer space "too!!, one a week
take care X Dominique

I love the idea of using your daughter's dressing gown for a bunny - I'll have to remember that one! please don't worry about the easter card - it doesn't have to be fancy - mine certainly won't be!!!! I love that little girl picture - where did you find it?

Hi Jackie, I can't access any of those links you posted :(((
I wish you would send the fixer, I may just have to move closer to you! (lemon fondant fancies are my fave too, we'd have to fight for them).

Thanks Dollybelle :D

Kitty: the dressing gown was hardly used and L was loathed to part with it as it was so soft. A bunny seemed like a good idea. I definitely need lots of storage!! It is sadly lacking.

Dominique: thanks, I'm glad you remember Chocky, thought I'd dreamt it LOL. If you see Brad Pitt get him to pop round to mine will you! That Angelina is so selfish keeping him to herself all the time.

Lucy: The picture is by Susan B Pearse, if you Google her name you should find her pictures. (I posted this on your blog too in case you didn't see it). I should get on with the card tomorrow!

Sal: Thank you, I enjoy your blog too!!

Fondant Fancy's are favourite treats of mine, but the pinks are my favourite. So, lemon for Jackie, pink for me, you get the rest:)

I remember my mother making toddler clothes for my children out of some of her clothes that could no longer get in to. They were clothes she wore when I was wee, little thing and she was a gorgeous, glamorous mama; and I loved having those memories with me as I watched my little ones wear them. Now I have the memories of them wearing them too.

You'll be so glad you made the bunny for your daughter out of her dressing-gown, and so will she. :)
