P.S. Did the earth move for you too?

As our mini Earthquake hit at one in the morning on Wednesday, ( People saying 'I didn't feel a thing, whilst others most definitely felt something, and it was talked about for most of the day and breaking news)
I woke to my door rattling to which I told the cat off for messing around (I did wonder why he was so wide eyed and how he managed to shake the door quite so much)
Up the street my Mum woke up to her bed shaking (She thought the neighbours were banging on the wall, or she had jumped in her sleep and made the bed shake)
My neighbour's bed and pictures all shook and her bird escaped from it's cage when it fell over. She also says her dog went very growly just before it happened and they apparently pick up on it don't they? (She stayed up all night convinced her house was subsiding :/ )
I'm glad my bed didn't shake, I would surely have thought of the Exorcist!
Did any of you UK bloggers feel it? I hope none of you suffered too much damage.

ooohhh I hate earthquakes! I'm from San Francisco so I have experienced plenty of them but they still really freak me out! I know this is terribly nieve of me but I didn't know England experiences big earthquakes too.
I'm glad you are ok!
Isn't it amazing how animals sense it beforehand!

It wasn't a very big earthquake, more of a big rumble and it is the first one we have had in 25 years apparently. It registered 5.2 but I have no idea what that means ;) I think it was more shock than anything as we don't get Earthquakes here so we were not expecting it. I think one man had his pelvis broken when the chimney collapsed into his attic bedroom (my neighbour was in an attic bedroom too). And there has been a bit of structural damage where the Earthquake hit.

We didn't feel any of the effects down here in the west country. Glad it wasn't too bad for you. I hope the fact that we are getting more earthquakes lately isn't ominous!

We didn't feel a thing, down here in the South of England...but I'm quite glad really! It must be very scary while it's actually happening and you don't know what it is!!

I didn't feel it but people at work apparently did - that's what you get for being a sleep deprived mum I suppose!

We felt it in Yorkshire, very strange sensation, kind of moving, falling, felt a bit like the girl in the Exorcist :) Love your blog, and think the images you use are gorgeous.

Hi Jennie, I know some people suffered damage and that is sad, but I am disappointed that I slept through, I've never experienced a real proper earthquake, only the teeny one we had over 20 years ago which no-one noticed except me! Glad you were OK.
