Beach party, prezzies, quiche and turquoise dreams!

Finally some pictures of the beach party we went too last Thursday! Above picture taken by my Mum on a much sunnier day, of the new sculpture near the lighthouse on the other side of the beach! That lighthouse could do with a lick of paint... ;)
So the pictures I took of the beach... hmm here is the beach
the rock pools and the lovely weather and the seaweed!! Actually it was good that it was such rubbish weather as it meant the beach wasn't packed and we could keep an eye on the twenty kids running around. It stayed dry as well which was a bonus. We got to go rock pooling as well which was fab, and we met up with J and his girlfriend who had gone down to the beach too!
I got a lovely surprise from Twiggy the next day, a parcel arrived on my doormat and I had no idea who it was from. Anyway in it were two fabulous cards, love the toad one, so apt.. thank you Twiggy I will indeed keep on kissing toads in the hope of finding a prince ;) Also this birthday card with gorgeous buttons on. You are a talented Twiggy. There was also a big bar of chocolate in the parcel but I can't show you that because we ate it, me and L, in about two seconds flat but it was very very nice (fair trade, fruit and nut!) And look at the lovely little heart she made! (And hello kitty stickers and buttons! I mean, sigh sigh! love it) Thank you Twiggy!!!!
I decided today that I really must make some effort and do some cooking/baking as I have become really lazy. So I threw together a quiche
(I usually buy one and how easy are they to make!!!) and it was very nice indeed (nicer than it looks!).
Finally I went to see 'Mamma mia' last night with a couple of my friends, and LOVED it, I did! Today L got the chance to go with some neighbours and she loved it too!!! I am totally in love with the setting and the hotel... so gorgeous all in turquoise! Oh how I love turquoise at the minute! (Look at the door on the poster!!! Pretty pretty pretty!) I wanted to go and live there!!! (Although I am quite sure after running up all those steep pathways I may expire after a day...) Love the songs, love the story... guess what... I loved it!!! If you haven't seen it yet then I urge you to go!!
I'll just pop in a side note about Abba, who doesn't love them really! (although some won't admit it!) I particularly love Abba for cheering me up in quite a rubbish time of my life. My marriage wasn't a particular happy affair, and unfortunately it left me (and the kids) feeling a little blue sometimes. On these occasions I would dress up L (who was two) we would spread glitter on our faces, push back the furniture and have a good ole dance to Abba which cheered us up immensely. I think J refrained from such antics but he was probably letting off steam at school.
Anyway... I am a bit lapse at catching up on blogs and blogging myself. Wretched summer holidays, no time to myself :D

Haven't seen Mama Mia but I hope to see it soon. I am also loving turquoise - but then I always have. Blue and green are wonderful, and turquoise brings them together for me.

Keep on kissing those frogs ....!

Hiya, Thanks so much for visiting my blog. You are welcome for tea anytime and I will send you home with a HUGE bag of sweeties LOL! As long as I can come for a piece of quiche! I love the lighthouse pictures, Ive always wanted to live in one (probably because of too many famous five books as a child!!!). Lucky you seeing Mamma Mia, ABBA's music is fab.
P.S Im not sure I should have admitted to the coke incident Hee Hee! Mandy

Morning Jennie, love the beach- so much more interesting than the miles of barron sand we have here on the West Coast. People here put up deck chairs by the sides of their cars and just sit there!...all day! I suppose it's better than being mugged by Lawrence of Arabia trying to find the sea but how boring!

Not seen Mamma Mia yet but probably will as hubby is an Abba fan. I love turquoise too- I even bought M+S turquoise towels last year as the colour was just right.

What lovely presents. That strawberry is so sweet.

Looks like Scarborough from the photos (or have I missed the name somewhere in the postings?). Had most of my summer hols there when young - grandparents who lived by the sea were wonderful.

What a lovely beach day you had... and I love that sculpture in the first picture. Very art deco/ 1920'ish. And that movie was super fun... my husband suffered the whole way through. :)

Glad you like the pressies lady, you are more than welcome. I say, I LOVE that lady in the cossie, isn't she statuesque - could be me if you had your eyes closed of course! Turquoise, greens and blues are my favourite colours and I would LOVE to live in Scarborough, lucky you. Fancy a house swap ? We have two pubs, a village shop, post office and a chippy to tempt you? And more tractors than you could shake a stick at!

Hi Jennie, glad you enjoyed your outing, we all love the beach. Your seaweed is different to ours! I can't admit to really liking Abba although I can appreciate their popularity. I shall more than likely wait until the film is shown on Sky. I love quiche though and have made my own in the past, those silver trays are handy, saves the egg mixture from leaking out. Funny, I had quiche for my tea last night, although a shop bought one! Twiggy has such a kind soul, she is a lovely friend to have. x

Hello! My eldest daughter went to see Mamma Mia and loved it and I really really want to go. We all love Abba and a couple of years ago when my daughter had a 70s disco party, Mr Ragged Roses and I dressed up as Abba members, false eyelashes, glitter and sequins aplenty - (ooops there I said it!)

I'm hoping to see Mamma Mia very soon. We're planning a girls' night out :)

Your beach day sounds perfect despite the weather and I love that statue next to the lighthouse!

I have to go see that movie - I love Abba too. When I was 7 they won the Eurovision with Waterloo and we used to imitate them with my sister and the neighbour's kids.

Hi Jennie, it has been ages since I came to visit you! Loved your beach photos. My daughter is made about turquoise with browns and cream. She will be moving into an apartment soon and has been buying stuff since last year, all in those colors! One problem though, her couch/handmedown is red! I told her to buy a couch cover.

I have not seen Mamma Mia, heard great things about it though, I do not often go to the movies. I usually wait and rent it on DVD.

Wishing you a great day,
Martha

I guess that lighthouse is at Scarborough? - I recognize that sculpture! - The quiche looks great, I used to make them quite often, but haven't done one for ages - Natalie x
