Birthday goodness!

Oooh I had a good birthday. I did! It was very easy going and I really enjoyed my day. First the kids woke me up with their presents... no hang on.... I woke them up by shouting 'Where are my prezzies?! get up will ya!!!' :D and they obliged. Then I went to see my Dad and he had got me some vouchers (he's still not well enough to get into town so my Mum got them for him) he was worried I would be disappointed... but I was thrilled! Waterstones and Hmv vouchers! How could I not be happy! :D Best presents ever!
Then my friend took me out for lunch to a tearoom which used to be a railway station. (Station tearooms, fancy that!)
and it is so pretty there. (Picture from Wikipedia, as I didn't take my camera out with me at all yesterday!) It was very sunny (not like the picture), we sat in the garden and had our lunch! He asked if I was going to put it in the blog that he'd taken me. I don't know! everyone is very blog wise lately. L asked me if I would put a picture on the blog of the plant she got me... here it is! She chose it herself. So lovely. Then J went to meet L from school and I went to my parents and my Mum had got me some lovely treats two of which were L'oreal's mineral face powder and blusher! Absolutely marvellous they are. As a foundation/powder wearer I was very skeptical but I was astounded at how easy it was to put on, how bare faced I felt but how good it looked! I'm hooked. Here is a pic of the nice things my Mum and L got me! (L got me the original source shower gel and the chocolate). J got me some burts bees lipstick shimmers and my book, and also some socks! L and my Mum made me a birthday cake but unfortunately it was cut into and eaten before I could get a picture of it! It was the best cake ever!
In the evening another friend came to pick me up to go and see Mama Mia but sadly everyone else in the whole of Scarborough had the same idea and it was full before we even got to the door. :( so she took me down to the beach and we had tea and fabulous caramel shortbread whilst looking out over the lovely sea!
Today I went and spent my vouchers (haha will just show you the voucher I got for Waterstones, my parents know me too well.. but who doesn't love Charlie and Lola!) These are the books and cds I got with my vouchers (I got dvds too but they are in the next picture)... impressed? I was :D (see the little number five book. I was really surprised to find that L, J and me are all number five people (our birthdays are on the 23, 5 and 14, (which add up to five). OOoh very odd. I also got some more fortune cards as I like them. Oh yes and I put in that picture the two mp3 players I got for my birthday! My friend who took me to the tearoom got me one because he was fed up of me wittering on about having to use L's 'Hello Kitty one' it is very shiny and plays videos but the space is limited.. and I got a pink one from my Mum which has tons of space and is very pretty and small! They are both now loaded with songs and I am over the moon!! Did you notice someone hiding behind all those things...?It's the kitty cat!! He doesn't like birthdays, especially his, his lack of opposable thumbs makes it difficult to open his presents.
Then if that wasn't enough. Dominique from Shabby Shac sent me a parcel and look what was in it.
The bag is so pretty and the butterfly is made out of feathers! Look at the label attached!! The ring is lovely. I was going to post a picture of my hand with it on, but my hands are looking in need of a manicure and a lot of lotion! And the book, that was fantastic especially as the cat looked like Katchoo! My Mum and me had a really good laugh reading it! Thank you so much Dominique! Today I was making something else for my Russian doll swap (nearly finished.. thank goodness, I made one thing thinking it would be easy. I was up two nights in a row until two in the morning and then I unpicked it all and started again... I nearly gave up but am pleased I kept on) and I watched Penelope whilst I was sewing. I wasn't that bothered about seeing the film what with me being all blah... but then I thought why not! I really really really loved it! I am going to get that on dvd to keep (this was from lovefilm rental).
My teeth are still sore, my gums are bruised but not as bad as they were! Thanks for all your lovely comments. :D It really does make a difference when things seem really bad, that people will take time out and comment to help you feel better. Thank you all so much! I knew this blog thing was a good idea :D

Oh one more thing on this super long post!
For Liz some pictures of the baby Seagull who has lost it's mother.
People keep feeding it and I cringe every time it decides to sit in the middle of the road but we had one like this last year and it survived, so fingers crossed this one will too!

Hi Jennie,
I am so glad you had a great birthday and its nice to get a few treats too. The mineral make is one that I might go and get sometime especially if I can do away with foundation.

BTW I bought The War Bride from Ebay after you recommended it, and watched it at the weekend, what a gorgeous film, I wanted to see it again straight away!

Looks like you had a great birthday with lots of goodies. I love how they make old railway stations into tearooms. We have a couple down this part of the country~and of course when I was a child it was all steam trains (long time ago now)!

Hey
I didn't know it was your birthday - harumph !!! Glad you had a lovely day, what lovely pressies, I love voucher pressies they are the bestest ever - did I sound like Lola there? I love Lola and would love to wear all her fantastic frocks but would look a bit of a dilbert. The station cafe looks lovely, it looks a bit like the station we stayed at a couple of years ago hmm, where was it? I'll have to have a look on t'internet.(It was Brompton by Sawdon) We were in your neck of the woods today, well Filey actually, I was the one shouting, my leg hurts and scoffing Sterchis chocs! Twiglet was the one desperately trying to fall in the sea fully clothed :) Happy belated birthday
Twiggy xx

I could barely stop ohhing and ahhing over your stash of goodies long enough to write a comment. I spied The cool Girls Guide to Knitting, we have that, and I had to do a double take, Is your cat Gay'. Now I'm wondering about Peri. Do you think that coz his name means ( I whisper in case he hears) fairy, that he might be?

Thanks Dominique, your gift was so fabulous. Thank you so much!

Dottycookie: I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!

Gill: I am so glad you watched that film and loved it!

Chris: They are gorgeous, it was very bizarre to see that we were sitting on where the railway would have been.

Josie: Thanks! I'll check it out now!

Kitty: Thank you!!! :D

April: Thank you as well! :D

Twiggy: Fancy not knowing!! I did have a lovely day thank you!! :D
You should have let me know you were going to Filey! Then I could have nicked your chocs! The cafe I went too was near Cloughton.

Sal: It really is such a gorgeous book! I am so glad I finally manged to get a copy.

Kath: I agree been let loose in a sweetshop would be pretty fantastic too (cola cubes anyone?)

Annie: I hope you like your swap! I am glad you liked Penelope too! :D

Melanie: So far so good, although I haven't seen the seagull chick today. I did have to chase him away from the main road yesterday a couple of times! Books are my most favourite thing ever!

Sherrie: I did have a lovely time. Thank you :D *hugs*

Alison: Your cat could most definitely be with a name like that, (such a pretty name though) does he go around in a leopard skin smoking jacket?
I am hoping the cool girls guide to knitting will actually help me to knit, what with me being so rubbish at it!!

Thank you everyone for your birthday wishes! You are all lovely!

I think you need to make that baby seagull your family pet! You could name her Street Urchin, or Liz. :)

It sounds like you had a fantastic birthday. I have to confess, I got a little jealous about your lovely stack of books/cd's/dvd's. :) You have excellent taste!

Jennie said...

Thank you Liz!
I think my cat may be a little put out by a seagull living in the yard and it's mother may come and attack me (the seagull not the cat) and you really don't want a seagull named after you. They are noisy greedy things :o

So glad you had a good birthday and sorry I missed it. I'm glad to hear that Penelope was good; I've been curious about it.

I know it is rather overdue, but Happy Birthday, you had a good one, and lots of lovely presents! I like the railway cafe, I could see myself living in an old disused railway station, they have so much character. About the cake, we wouldn't have minded just seeing the plate of crumbs! The mango and macadamia original source is one of my favourites, infact I almost want to eat it. The number thing is quite strange, and I would think quite unusual. Two baby seagulls have been sitting on a neighbour's roof, must have nested behind their chimney this time, glad it wasn't ours! x

Mrs Fox: Thank you. Yes Penelope was really enjoyable! A real fairy tale. :D

Louise: Thank you too. I should have taken a picture of crumbs you are right! I am glad the Seagulls aren't nesting on your roof as well, right pain they are!!
