It never rains but it pours...

Ugh I had just stopped feeling sorry for myself and what happens... I was butchered by a very enthusiastic young dentist from Denmark yesterday. I woke up feeling really rubbish and sore as I had a bit of a sinus infection, but thought I should go check out my new dentist anyway. He was very young and friendly and kept telling me my teeth were 'nice' (I think he has a thing for teeth) While I was there he decided to give them a descale and I had to have a filling. He was very kind and let me have a white filling and he spent ages (I mean ages!!..) making it perfect. I thought my jaw would break or that I would not be able to close my mouth again... ever.. and what is that weird drill thing that they use to smooth out fillings, I thought my brain was going to judder out of my head!!! Ye gads.. when he descaled them... OOOUCH! I bled so much it was ridiculous... he really gave it his all. (Today I could hardly put my toothbrush in my mouth). When he had finished I had to rush for the bus. My friend caught me up ready to make fun of me but stopped in his tracks as I looked so woeful. He sent me a text later saying I looked positively violated by the dentist! So I spent yesterday evening feeling decidedly sorry for myself... yet again. This is becoming a habit I must snap out of it immediately! :D
I don't have much news to report, as I am supposed to be cracking on with this swap and I've only done a bit. Although I have quite a few ideas. I am going to sew and watch a film today hopefully.

It is tipping it down. The kids had to get their winter coats back out again. This is July!! Feels like November. All the baby seagulls are coming down from the rooftops and walking around the street getting wet and cheeping for their mothers. I'll try to get a picture of one. I saw one today, it made me jump, I thought it was a furry ball on legs. It's okay being cute but they don't half cause hassle. Last year my parents had to cope with loads of flies coming down the chimney, the seagulls must have got some food riddled with maggots. We put those spikes up but somehow one of them has managed to sneak onto my parents chimney and nest again! My mum is not happy at all.
J breaks up from college today, L doesn't until next week. I hope we have some nice weather for the holidays.
J went to get presents for me and his girlfriend the other day. He got me a little something to go with the book (he's hidden it now, I want to read it!! I can't possibly wait until Monday) and came home with some really lovely things for his gfriend. He said 'look at this card' and dragged out this massive card. He then said 'oh no I forgot your card! oh never mind Nana will get me one for you..' ooh did I feel special ;) Kids!I watched 'Taking over the asylum' all the way through the other day (I know, do I actually do anything else?... I was sewing Russian dolls though.. honest). I had forgotten how good that series was and David Tenant is sooo young and geeky in it! He is definitely someone who has grown into himself.. if you know what I mean :/ The BBC have tons of fabulous dramas that are just sitting on the shelf somewhere I think they should put them all on dvd or show them again. I think this only made it onto dvd because they were cashing in on David Tenant being Dr Who. (ITV did the same with showing 'Clocking off' and 'The lakes' when John Simm was in 'Life on mars'). Thank you for all your comments on my last post. I will pull my socks up I promise. Never mind, these things are sent to mess us up and teach us lessons or something...
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and that the sun finally comes out and shines for you all!

You need some Arnica for the bruising! It really does help after a brutal dental experience, or other bruising.

Hope you're continuing to bounce back - thinking of you. Hope the sewing is coming on. I've currently got my hand up a monkey's bottom :-O

Ugh, dentists. I avoid them at all costs. I would, however, love to see a baby seagull! :)

After everything else, you didn't need all that from the dentist...(was that really him in the picture??!!) and scaling isn't menat to hurt, I'm sure. You need some TLC- arnica on the gums (I agree with Kitty), feet up on the couch with a plate full of strawbrries, the phone off the hook and a good movie to watch or book to read; followed by a lingering, hot bubble bath and a glass of wine. If that fails, a stiff brandy and a lie in tomorrow.

I hope you can manage some of that today and will feel better tomorrow! I hate coming out of the dentist with a lopsided grin and a numb cheek. Sending you my sympathies and a hug X Bella

Oh! And I'm sorry it's cool and raining. It's, uh, ahem, hot...I mean, warm, no I mean...sunny...ahem, ahem. It's just 'average' here. Sunshine is so overated. You're not missing anything jennie- I'd kill for a downpour and my winter coat right now.
:)

Isn't this weather cack! I hope you're soon feeling better lady, if I lived closer, I'd come round we could make a tent out of blankets and sit in it watching lovely DT and stuffing our faces with Sterchis chocs, I'd even share my rose and violet creams with you!
Anyhoo I've given you an award so check out my blog and keep your pecker up

PS I love Takin Over the Asylum and saw it on TV years ago before I started my DT infatuation - I'll send you a Dr Who clone over, ok? I'm making them in my greenhouse.

Laughing that you posted that picture of Steve Martin. Went to the dentist and having filled me full of Novocaine he left the room and beamed in that scene from Little Shop of Horrors! HA! HA! Very funny! :-/

Hi Jennie, sorry haven't been around much lately, v. busy at work, so I'm catching up with my favourite blogs. Sounds like you've had some ups and downs recently but at least you tried, it's all too easy to go through life not doing things in case it fails or you get hurt, sometimes you just gotta go for it and see what happens. You'll feel better soon, life goes on. When do we get to see the Russion dolls??! Perfect remedy when you're feeling blue.

Oh, I'm so sorry- you've had a very tough time. I've had that "scaling" thing done, and I fully understand.
Hugs,
Pam

I know exactly what you mean about dentists,I should have had a tooth out last wednesday but its stopped being sensitive again after I bought some pro-namel toothpaste, cost about £3 but its better than a tooth out which would have left a big gap, so I cancelled the appointment and they quoted me £900for a bridge no that is not a mis-type! and he's supposed to be an NHS dentist, anyone want to buy some peg bags! :-)

I hate the dentist..although actually he is quite nice and he's a Newcastle United fan. Must be hell for him living in Devon though and not being able to get to matches often.
Nevertheless,we chat about the great Alan Shearer and that takes my mind off my teeth... as I'm always too busy thinking of Alan Shearer's strong thighs!!;-) ;-)

Hia Jennie, we've finally got some sunshine too! I would be excited but I'm grounded sorting out the spare room (dumping ground) for a guest this month.

Just having good weather must help lift spirits even with horrible things like dentists and callous men of dubious parentage. ROFL Some things just aren't meant to be.

Can't wait to see your Russian dolls. I actually have a real set of wooden ones which I bought in aid of Chernobl children. I chose unusual colours for them- pale blues as they reminded me of The Ice Queen by Hans Christian Andersen. perfect for Winter decorating. One day perhaps I'll use them as inspiration for fabric ones.

Hope you've taken lots of arnica to help with your teeth. I've got major dental work to look forward to in September and I am physically shaking at the prospect. Full sympathies too about the seagulls, living by the sea these seagulls are a nightmare for us and made our first summer in our new house a nightmare as they divebombed us everytime we went into the garden I had to put the washing out wearing my daughter's Barbie helmet and carrying an umbrella!

Oh no! You poor thing! It is almost one of those situations where you have to laugh to keep from crying. This all only serves to remind me why I avoid the dentist.

The sun is supposed to be out today and is still nowhere to be seen. What the hell is going on! I used to enjoy The Lakes, you like your dramas, as do I, although with this blogging I don't get to see as many these days. The birds on the chimneys are a nuisance, we have had to destroy a seagull's nest three times and have starling poo coming down the chimney regularly! Come on sun, we all need cheering up! x
