A fabulous hand made card greeted me
These were inside the box:
Some tea bags because Liz knows I love tea!!
Some funky tissues (which actually had the name of my Cat on, so he was most impressed!) for my weepy films. (Also I never go anywhere without tissues and these are fabulous!)
Some chocolate treats (and boy was there many!! those coconut clusters are divine!)
A cupcake candle (and I heeded your warning Liz, and have not yet bitten into it ;) give me time though)
I was over the moon! Especially as I have my sense of smell back for a short time, while I am on steroids, so I have enjoyed tasting everything so much more... and tea, how I love tea!!! Thank you so much Liz!
Here is a picture of my Malteser cake.
Today I had a good old trek around the charity shops trying to cheer myself up. My daughter is having a hard time with friends at school again and it generally gets me down when she is unhappy, so to take my mind off things I had a good look around the thrifty places I love. Anyway I found a lot of buttons (avert your eyes now if you have a button phobia)
I also got this figurine head,
I also got some nice brown spotty pillowcases which I will be cutting up (they were from TK Maxx) and some calico and some brown fabric from the sewing shop, and I am going to attempt to make something with it tomorrow. I won't speak of it until I have made it because it may just go hideously wrong. I am attempting to put together something for my PIF but I'd like to be sure what I was offering before announcing it.
Ooh and I watched Dilemma, was good but very short! and I have also read Lisa Jewell's book over the weekend and loved it! She can spin a good yarn.

HI Jennie,
Your blog parcel looks great and I like the look of those chocolates!. Your maltesar cake looks perfect, I bet you wished you had liked it more!, it looks heavenly. All those buttons too. The head figure is lovely too, it has a nice face.
It is hard when children have tough times at school. As it does effect you when you think of them not being happy. Your daughter has a great mum and is brilliant at art ,one clever young lady.
What a lovely parcel - so many fab goodies!
Sorry to hear about your daughter having a hard time. I hate it when my two are unsettled. I do hope everything gets sorted for her soon.
Your malteser cake looks lovely - maybe you should have had a smaller slice ;)
I always find a trawl round the charity shops very therapeutic - even if I don't seem to come back with goodies as lovely as yours!!
xx
Glad you liked the treats. I'm with you on the Malteser cake - I wasn't struck on the one I made shortly after buying Nigella's book. I much prefer her recipe for chocolate fudge cake (which makes a great birthday cake!).
Meant to say I love the angel figure.
Your parcel looks lovely - what a great thing to receive in the post! - I am feeling very hungry right now looking at that malteaser cake too! - Natalie x
Didn't you do well?
I'm sorry your little one is having a hard time. It just about breaks your heart when they have problems at school. But she does have a lovely mum, and that counts for a lot too!
I hope that things are going better for your little one.
What a lovely feel better package.
Your cake looked really good!
Hi Jennie, I am so so sorry you didn't like the Malteser cake. Hope you like some of my others better :)
I hate it when my daughter has friend issues as well - you just want to steam in and make it better but you have to hang back and let them deal with it first.
Hugs
April xx
Lovely parcel lady. Hope you manage to sort out your daughters problems at school, it's so hard when your children are having a tough time. Your thrifting goodies look fab, espesh the buttons. The family Twiglet were in your neck of the woods yesterday, well Filey actually and a very jolly day we had too!! Post me your cake if you don't want it, it looks scrummy

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. How lovely to get such a wonderful parcel. Hope things are better for your daughter, both mine were having a tough time a couple of months ago, it is heartbreaking isn't it? Take care, enjoy those buttons

Wow beats receiving bills through the post, what a nice parcel of goodies!
I didn't fancy the Malteser cake when I saw the recipe,I'll give it a miss I think. But I did come across this recipe this week, take a look it sounds yummy! http://shelikesherfood.wordpress.com/2008/04/12/chocolate-brownie-cake/
It's really tough when your daughter has problems with friends, I've been through it with my daughter at times, girls can be horrible to each other sometimes, all those hormones. It's difficult to stand by and watch, the few times I did interfere I made things worse, thank goodness she's leaving shcool this year and is going to college, it will be a better environment for her. Hope your daughter's problems pass. A bit of charity shop therapy helps to take your mind off things doesn't it.
YUMMY!!!! Yep, that's all I'm saying because I'm too busy drooling over everything here. Love it!
You didn't like the malteaser cake, shock horror, oh but you did saw perhaps you weren't feeling well. Love your treasures. Buttons especially
HI Jennie, what a lovely parcel to cheer you up, I haven't tried the Malteser cake, it looks nice in your pic but I might find it too sweet I think. Great button finds, I used to have a dislike of old buttons esecially black and brown ones, it's not so bad now but I still don't like handling them until they've had a good wash!

So much gorgeousness in one post!
What a brilliant parcel to receive, and quite amazing that Liz was able to capture you so accurately at bath-time! ;)
The Malteser cake looks divine, and as for that button haul .... result!
:)
That cake sure does look good!
Has anybody in the whole wide world got a button phobia? I certainly haven't.
You do get some lovely parcels! Shame about the Malteser cake - looks lovely!
a perfect feel better parcel, and lovely button treasures. hope your daughter is feeling more settled at school soon.
For that parcel to arrive must have cheered you up no end, especially with worries at the moment, just a shame the Malteser cake didn't have the same effect. Funny I love Maltesers but hate Horlicks. Your trek down to the charity shop was worthwhile, you were very fortunate to find all those lovely buttons. x
