A few first attempts

So a quick update mostly in pictures of things I have been attempting to for the first time.
I have been baking...
Chocolate cake (mmm nice, was delicious, I used bournville chocolate in it. It was very rich and yummy)
An old stool (cost a couple of pounds)which I have painted and I re-coveredMy first attempt at this. So not too bad.
Using a tutorial at Going sew crazy I'm in the middle of making these peg dolls. They need their arms and dresses yet!Unfortunately I could not find the dowel caps here in the UK required to make the heads I got the right sized wooden balls from a craft shop and drilled holes into them to make the heads. I love painting these dolls, it is very theraputic.
I made a Nancy Blackett doll for my Dad for Fathers day (Swallows and Amazons was his favourite book as a child).
Here are two of the girls finished wearing their dresses, I made these for my friends daughter, Lucy, for her third birthday.
I also made a tote bag with a pocket on the front to keep them in (made from the same material as the dolls dresses which incidently is the material left over from making a smaller sized quilt from a single quilt for Lucys bedroom. The colour is a bit weird on this photo, it was rushed camera work, because we were late for the party. The above pic shows it better) Another first attempt, I have never made a bag before, let alone a lined tote bag so I was really pleased how it turned out.
And I made her two crayon rolls, which I kind of made up as I went along but there are lots of lovely tutorials on the web if you want to make one yourself.
I think that's it. So I have been quite productive :O for a change.
Hope everyone is well and happy.

*hugs*

Hiya Jennie, Thanks for popping by to wish me Happy Birthday. Im afraid the cake has all gone, I ate as much icing as I could before I made myself sick LOL! Your mam grew up in Harrogate? how lovely. We will never be able to afford to live there but I can always dream. Your cake looks yummy and the peg dolls are really cute. Gorgeous stool, I love red polka dots X
