Bah the batteries for the camera need recharging because J has been using them for college work so I shall just have to do a bit of the ole copy and pasting... I did want to take a picture of some old glass jelly moulds I purchased, a lantern and about twenty million knitting needles but will have to do those next time (oooh bet you can't wait, are you on the edge of your seats? ;) ) So I'll just have to show you some books I am browsing lately instead, using the wonder of Amazon. I have nearly finished this novel...
My friend told me she couldn't put it down and passed it onto me, I, in turn, couldn't put it down either but I have to say I have guessed what happened which is a bit of a downer (but it just proves I watch and read too many thriller/detective things, just call me Marple). It's a great book. And one I would suggest having a read of.Today L and me picked up three Pre-Raphaelite books at the carboot sale for a quid each.
Pre-Raphelite women:
The Pre_Raphelites:
and The Pre-Raphaelite Camera: Aspects Of Victorian Photography:
(who Alice in Wonderland was based on, which I'm sure you know) and Lewis Carroll. We have decided in my family that I would probably have been better off suited to the Pre-Raphaelite era with my build and long hair
and even if I had been poor I could have made good money sitting for months at a time having my picture painted. (Though I am a bit of a fidget and would have got shouted at to sit still!)I have also just ordered Jane Brockets book.
I cannot wait to try out some of the recipes especially as it includes the recipe for squashed fly biscuits from 'Swallows and Amazons', my Dads favourite childhood books. Thanks for all the comments on the bunnies. I have two which I am in the middle of making now and a few more towels to make some more. Just need to get motivated.
Have had a riotous weekend picking up many knitted stitches L has dropped all over the place and love how she started with 12 stitches on her needle and now has 32! Watched the newer version of 'Rebecca' with Emilia Fox, but I am still a fan of the black and white version. That Mrs Danvers, she was a one!
Hope you have all had a great weekend! I spent mine mainly gazing out of the window in a bit of a dream :/

The same thing happens to me with our camera. I was so frustrated about it that in the end I bought myself a 2nd little one for my handbag. Only trouble is it's pink and so my daughter keeps wanting to use that one too.
I've heard about that book too- I'm going to try to get it out of the library. I'm really addicted to thrillers and rarely read anything else.
Hope you're having a good weekend Jennie :)

The Mabel Lucie picture is so cute!
I'm getting back into books these days, I was an avid reader BC (before children) but have let the habit slip for the past, oooh, 18 years I'm embarrassed to confess.Mostly I managed a page or 2 at bedtime and whilst on holidays. Amazon is brilliant, I love that it makes recommendations too and I've got a pile of about 15 books waiting to be read. I've got quite different taste in books to you though, I can't stand thriller/detective novels! Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

I have that Jan Marsh book too - it's one of my most frequently reread ones. In fact I may have to hook it out again!
ooo, the book , no time for goodbye, sounds intrigueing(sp?), I will have to look on amazon.

Coeeee I haven't read a book for a few weeks now, I think my Twiggy Classics wore me out :) I LOVE Pre-Raphaelite paintings and have a few prints dotted around the house. Me and my mate used to reckon we were quite Pre Raphaelitey in our younger days but now have to face the fact we're a pair of big birds with gingery hair, have you ever seen a Pre-Raphaelite beauty in glasses :)
I can't wait to see your knitting needles and jelly moulds, you big tease!

swallows and amazons was one of my favourites! I love books, I don't read nearly as much as I used to, but then again, I can't do everything, can I?
Will check out Cherry Cake and Ginger Beer. I especially like Aspects Of Victorian Photography. Can't you get some great books at carboots and only a £1 each, such bargains. I love the sentiment on the card! x
I've been a bit lazy with my reading just lately! However, next weekend I am going to Hay on Wye..the place with many bookshops and also where people are meant to be happiest! ;-)
"The earthly paradise"- margaret, does a lot on the Pre Raphaelites. I have her on my side bar. Very good for £1 each.
Yes I like the b/w version of Rebecca too. It manages to keep that feeling of dread and suspense.
The book sounds interesting. Why looking out the window dreaming?
I was given the Jane Brocket book for my birtnday but I haven't had chance to try any of the recipes yet. I hope you post photographs if you bake any of them!
I can't wait to see what you think of Cherry Cake and Ginger Beer. I'm still undecided about ordering it!
Not sure I'm tall enough to be pre-Raphaelite....I meet build requirements though!!
Enjoy your reading :)

Hello Darlin'! I'm always in the same bind when it comes to cameras! I hate sharing!
I do think I know what kind of trade you would like- I am perfectly willing, BUT at the moment every one that I make has to go in the shop. Let's see if my finances improve this fall and then maybe we can swap in the new year. How does that sound?
P.S. I would never think you are cheeky, but I love hearing you say it!
Hi Jennie, My camera has finally give up the ghost. All my pictures are blurred, or is it my eyes? or the drink? Not sure. Since Ive started my blog I now feel the need to take a photo of everything I do... Eww, Well nearly everything. I refuse to have my photo taken, Ive always been scared of cameras (incase someone gets me) and now since blogging Im working out the best angle and lighting to take a photo of beans on toast!!! The mind boggles.....well mine does, but that could also be down to the alcohol!!
