Finally.. I got to experience some of Pickering War weekend! And I absolutely loved it. Next year if it is on, I am definately going to dress up and go on the train. This time I only managed to do my make up (but I pretty much wear red lipstick all the time)

Although I won't be wearing fur, even though I know in the forties they wore fur because of clothing shortages and it was thought of as glamorous (and there was also an abundance of fur at the War weekend!!) but my vegetarian/cruelty free daughter would never forgive me and it's really not my thing.

My friend took me with his son, we stopped to watch the singer first, I was hoping Lola L'amour would be there but this lady had a fabulous voice. We only stayed a few hours but it was enough. We couldnt find anywhere to have a cup of tea, everywhere was packed and we ended up having to get a take out one and a cake from Thomas the bakers. I said 'I can't believe I am having to drink out of a polystyrene cup, it should be afternoon tea in bone china and cakes'.

We did pop into my favourite shop 'Lost and found' which is above Reeds newsagents. (The picture is of Reeds window, love how they taped the glass up) They had turned their usual lovely upstairs shop into a 1940's tearoom, it looked wonderful, sadly it too was full and we couldn't get in :((( maybe next year.

We did look around the items for sale but I have to say they were a little pricey, however we popped into the MS charity shop on the way back to the car (I love that charity shop, its like a rabbit warren) And I found three like new cannisters for tea, coffee and sugar (I was looking for some as my old ones are chipped) fabulous condition and in gorgeous light turquoise for a £1 each... and then I spied a bright pink old blanket, complete with label also in brilliant condition. As I am secretly planning on decorating my daughters bedroom whilst she is away for a night, in clashing orange and pink colours (the carpet is orange, it makes decorating difficult) I bought it. It was £3, what a steal and as it is a double, thick and warm. I am considering halving it and using the other half to make cushions etc as it is too big for her single bed.

I have been playing around with my rabbit pattern and tomorrow I'm going to make a newer updated one. Fingers crossed it turns out okay. xx
