I am back..

I am back... Oh yes I am... I think I may have got my crafting mojo back because I have made not one but... two bunnies! I am hoping to make lots more without giving them away every time I make one, and eventually sell them. I am brimming with ideas for Christmas and it's about time I did something about it! Anyway the bunnies... My friend has taken photos for me.... and also named them :/ he said all bunnies should have names. I think he got a little carried away because he took them home yesterday, to take photos of them, and was very reluctant to let them come home today! Apparently last night he awoke to their screams as they watched 'Watership down' on dvd. He had to scold them for watching horror films so late at night and make them go back to bed. This one is called Mabel. And this one is Dorothy. I have also made two apple crumbles with the apples from my friends apple tree. I made one smaller one for my parents and a bigger one for me and the kids. It was very tasty. Is it Autumn already! One of my favourite seasons.... ooh halloween... ooh bonfire night... just oooh really!
We had a visitor in our yard the other day, a very young ginger cat. It was so cute and I wanted to keep him, especially when he ran into our house and made himself at home under the airer. He was very friendly. Sadly I really can't cope with any more cat fur because of my asthma, so luckily a very nice girl up the street who is mad for cats has taken it in. I spoke to her today and she said he is very feisty and all her other cats have decided they are kitten like too and are driving her mad!

Last week L brought some produce from the veg club at school. One courgette, green beans and potatoes. What a veritable feast with had with L's bountiful harvest. She has bought me back some gorgeous sunflowers today! In other news... I watched the first episode of 'Tess of the d'Urbervilles on Sunday. Did anyone else catch it? I have to say I was quite disappointed in the cast especially the actress who played 'Tess', I thought she was quite dull. So I watched the 1998 version whilst making Mabel bunny and I definitely preferred 'Justine Waddell' as 'Tess' she was much more feisty to start with. And I also like 'Oliver Milburn' who plays' Angel' in this version, so easy on the eye ;) ooh and I just love her blue velvet dress that she wears at the end, so beautiful.
I am having a good old costume drama time because I have just watched 'Wives and daughters' which I think I missed when it was on tv. After enjoying 'Cranford' so much I thought I would try to watch this and of course thoroughly enjoyed it. This watching films and sewing is becoming a bit of a habit. When I made 'Dorothy' I watched 'Charade' for the first time after seeing a clip of it on 'Mrs Fox's' blog. What a brilliant film. I love 'Cary Grant' and of course 'Audrey Hepburn'. Their timing is just perfect.
I hope everyone is doing well and I hope to catch up with you all again soon. Sorry for my absence but once again I find myself involved in my own little drama (how very unlike me ;) that will hopefully iron itself out shortly, then I can bring you some news of just what I have been messing around at.

I am especially waving at Mandy from 'This vintage Kitten' who is having a bit of trouble on her blog. As I can't comment on your blog atm I am sending you *lots of hugs* Hope it clears up (or clears off) soon.

For me Nastassja Kinski is the definitive Tess of the D'Urberville - I think that Roman Polanski film is beautiful.

Those are fabulous rabbits - I think making them to sell is a wonderful idea. I'm sure you could sell some as Crimble presents?

I look forward to hearing all about your latest drama ... what have you got yourself into this time? ;-)

Take care hun. x

Hia Jennie, lovely looking crumble. I can make crumble but definately not pie. For some reason my pastry is better at propping up barns than being eaten.

Beautiful rabbits with perfect names. I haven't sewn anything all day and my hands are getting twitchy.

Sorry to hear about your friend's troubles. There are some right weirdo people out there who's highlight of their day is trying to get at others. There is a way of tracing them if you don't allow anonymous comments.

Mabel and Dorothy are delightful. Your friend is absolutely correct- every critter of our creation must be named! To not name them would be like not giving our children names!

I love to watch old movies too when I sew. I have to fight for tv time, unfortunately.

N to see you back. I agree with Kitty, Nastassja Kinski was the best. i wish they would stop remaking these classics as they are not often for the better.

Love the rabbits. I have an Aunty Dorothy and, I have to say, she is more of a harvest mouse than a rabbit.
Also for sex on legs in a costume, for me, it has to be North and South with Guy Armitage. OK, let's be truthful. Guy Armitage with or without the costume (modern clothes optional) Works like a dream! I love the way he manages vulnerable brooding so well.

Thanks for your lovely comment. I love your bunnies - I slightly prefer Mabel, but don't tell Dorothy! I had a rabbit from birth that my mother made, rather than a teddy, so I've always been partial to them. She's still with me! Or he - we never really got to the bottom of what it was! lol.
I wanted to watch Tess, but I just don't know where time goes!

Gorgeous bunnies, you'll definately be able to sell them if you can bear to part with them!
I watched Tess of the d'Urbervilles on Tv, I didn't like Tess much, bit pouty! I haven't seen wives and daughters I'll have to look out for it if it compares to Cranford, which I loved.

Hello,
I agree with you about Justine Waddell being great as Tess. I was also a bit disapointed with the new Tess and was expecting much more from the whole production.
I've still not seen wives and daughters but it's on my list.
I love your bunnies!
