Friday weirdness.

So today the lady across the street called me in tears, could I go and check her leg and foot as she had some blistering and it was hot.. I don't know, I do six months voluntary at the hospital and all of a sudden I am a medical expert! Anyway I had a look and told her to go to the doctors as it looked like it was infected.. she did, it was. I am wasted really!
Tonight Jamie has an art exhibition so am looking forward to seeing what he has done for his exam work!

I've got bloggers block, blame the person who I got in touch with after fifteen years. Things have taken a very strange twist and I'm trying to work things out...
So I thought I'd make my movie day another kind of day today, more easy going., a 't.v programmes that have inspired me to want to try different jobs or looks' day!! All because of my friend with the poorly leg.
So first up is the series No Angels, which made me want to get into nursing. I don't know what I thought would happen when I started work at the hospital. I would obviously move in with other nurses into a house and we would get drunk every day and look really glamorous. It wasn't like that at all. For one, I already had a house and two children, and for another I had to get up at the crack of dawn and that doesn't make anyone look glamorous. Anyway I loved working on the children's ward and would do it again in a heartbeat. So 'No Angels' did me a favour. Two thousand acres of sky: This made me want to grab my best mate and head off to a Scottish Island and pretend he was my husband, although I didn't actually have a male best friend at the time of watching, and if I did he wouldn't have looked anything like Paul Kaye as Kenny who I had a HUGE crush on. Unfortunately in the third series Kenny died and I was left bereft! Thank goodness they didn't bring out a fourth series without him in it. It would have been too tragic.
Clocking off: This series made me want to go and work in a factory! I didn't actually go and work in a factory but I just thought it looked really nice, everyone knowing everyone else and all the stories intertwined. I have just recently re watched this series and enjoyed it.
La femme nikita. Oh how I adore Peta Wilson, she is so beautiful, I spent most of my time watching this series just wanting to look like her. She's gorgeous. I obviously have no urge to become an assassin, that would just be weird, but her apartment is fab. I still have to get this on dvd but when I do I shall spend hours and hours just cosseting that woman and her many outfits! Black books: This is the funniest comedy series I think (although Father Ted comes a close second). I used to work in a bookshop and I would love to do so again. I have tried two times to get a job at the library but to no avail. I think Dylan Moran (Bernard) is so funny and I love Bill Bailey!! He makes me laugh just by looking at him. So working with books is on my list of 'what to do with myself in the future' I just don't know how and I obviously hope I am not like Bernard.
So that is five tv programmes that have inspired me!
Obviously I am aware that all above programmes are fictious and totally not real life, but that's the whole point of dreaming isn't it. ;)
Ellie grew out of a pair of black velour Jogging trousers
and asked me to make a bear out of them, so I did! This is before and after. Also I got some material for my Russian Doll swap so am hoping to crack on with that next week! I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Bill Bailey can do no wrong! As you say, he just looks funny even before he speaks. I have a friend who saw his stage show and is madly in love with him as a result. Charisma!

Hope you're ok. x

Would the blog blocking blast from the past be of the male variety? Pray tell!

Cute bear. I only catch a glimpse of No angels no and again on UKTV but it makes me want to nurse for about five seconds too. More the female solidarity thing I think as I can't stand needles.

I used to enjoy Clocking Off. Do you watch The Street, it has a very similar format. I used to like Two Thousand Acres of Sky too. I always think that Paul Kaye is one of those blokes who you wouldn't admit to fancying! Where have I been, I haven't heard of Black Books! x

I'm going to have to trot over to You Tube and see if they have any Black Books clips. Was Dylan Moran also in Shaun of The Dead and Run Fat Boy, Run? It looks like the same person.

Love the teddy bear. Excellent re-using!

That teddy is so cute, and a really good use of material. I have a few old clothes that I'm going to alter and fiddle with.....
someday.

Louise: Love the street, I have the first series on dvd (no surprise there then!) I'll admit it, I fancy Paul Kaye LOL, there's just something about him ;) Loved him in 'Blackball'.
You must watch Black books immediately :D ;)

Mrs Fox: Yes Dylan Moran was, he was the one who got pulled out of the pub window in Sean of the dead.
Thank you about the bear.

What a cute bear. Well done for re-cycling the fabric. I wish I could think up things like that, but by the time son has had something on him, it's fit for nothing. He is a real muck magnet!

Yes I loved Nikita's wardrobe too. I think Doro Pesch (lead singer of Warlock in the 80s)was the most beautiful nordic woman I had ever seen but Nikita was a close 2nd.

I know what you mean about Bill Bailey- even he thinks he's a strange Hobbit creature from Middle Earth. Have you got a video of his stage act with musical instruments? So so funny.

Twiggy said...

We went to see Bill Bailey a few years ago, he was hilarious, incorporated a lot of musical instruments into a very funny act. Told a very funny story about John Michel Jarre - v.funny chap. Bill Bailey that is not JMJ.
