Dear all, I ran because it has been horrible weather and I have been feeling very unmotivated and sorry for myself and the more I thought I should do my blog, the more I put it off. Until the blog became like a milestone around my neck and I felt I should be posting instead of just posting because I felt like it. So off I ran. I do not mind if you don't come back to visit me because I have been a rubbish blogger and not kept up with your blogs as well as not keeping up with mine. I was quite relieved to see that this is a bit of a common occurance in blog land at this time of year and people take breaks and come back when they feel refreshed. I did think about just giving up blogging but I don't think I want too, so I am back and I am posting because I started this blog for a reason and that was to just put myself out there and see if I could get more creative than I had previously been. Even if it's just once a month, I will at least try. So onwards...The bad news in my life is that my kitchen ceiling fell in...
this put me in an incredibly bad frame of mind and when the man came to take the rest of the ceiling down and replaster, he ripped off a lot off wallpaper too, so the walls had to be stripped, (one replastered) papered and then painted. The whole kitchen needed a makeover.
It is a very nice green colour, which I was not sure about at first but which I love now. And has lots of nice bright white tiles.

My crafting came to a big halt for a while but I am trying to heave myself out of that slump and I have made some rabbits,
which need faces and to be dressed, and I have just started to have a play around with embroidery.
I bought a transfer pencil from ebay but to be honest I am not that impressed with it as only half of it transferred, so if anyone has any suggestions on where I can get a better one I would be grateful. oh and I did some applique on a t-shirt for my daughter to add a bit of redness for red nose day.
I had a go at drawing my own design and worked from there.
That is something I would like to do this year, make my own designs of things... if only I could draw well!

'A child's garden of verses' by Robert Louis Stephenson. And the other is 'The family from One End street'.
Like 'Shirley Hughes' I think Eve Garnett manages to catch the image of children so accurately. I would love to be able to draw like this!

Glad you got your ceiling fixed. I just love your embroidery - you should definitely try to make your own patterns. I look forward to seeing your efforts!

Hi there - Don't worry about not being around for a while - we all lose our mojo from time to time - that's the beauty of blogging - we all feel like that sometimes and no-one will hold it against you! That pic of your kitchen ceiling looks identical to what happened in our shop just before christmas, but glad you have it sorted now and congrats to your son for getting into York Uni - Natalie x
Nice to hear from you again, I've been a rubbish blogger too so you're not alone. I know just how you feel, it's got to be enjoyable or it just becomes another task to get done. I do have a few ideas fr posts so might jump back in myself soon...congrats to your Son you must be very proud. Oh and I love Eve Garnett's work too, wish I could draw like that too.

And nice to see MLA pictures, as a kid my mum reckoned I looked just like the little girl's she drew, not sure whether that's a compliment or not but I did always have little round rosey red cheeks!!
Emma :)
Please come back to blog world. I have been looking in regularly to see how you are. I have missed my dose of Mabel Lucie Attwell too. So sorry to hear your bad news re the ceiling It is all looking lovely now, after all the hard graft you have put in. I haven't discovered this illustrator, I shall look her up, the drawings are lovely. As are your makes, the face on the doll is really pertty. Don't stay away for too long. x
Hia Jennie congratz to your son. My daughter loved her weekend there with Salter's Chemistry Camp in the Summer. I liked looking round York too- very beautiful place.
Welcome back to you too. Sometimes life is more important than blogging. :-)
Good job on the ceiling. Of all the plastering jobs I think ceilings are the worst. No wonder people used plaster board a lot and then just skim over.
I can't recommend a transfer pen. I tried the soluable blue ones but they run out incredibly quickly. Some embroidery whizzes I know just use retractable fine pencils as their stitching will cover it. Have you seen the Ikea worktop with the built in light box for tracing?
Hi Jennie, glad you're back, sometimes a litte break from blogger is good - it can get all-consuming. Love your latest handiwork - really cute!
Have a lovely Easter1
Lucy x
Well Hello Jennie! You and I both have been missing, but you are making up for it in spades with all your pretty new creations! I'm so happy you have found a special someone too! Happy Easter!
