how to catch up when I have been so lapse!

So Christmas was lovely although over way to fast. J got a laptop which I am now using while he is at college (bad mother) and I got lots of lovely things.
I had been a very good girl so I received 'The peoples war' from J, and a book called 'On Holiday' from my Dad. I got 'Rachel Allen's' newest book 'Bake' (I love that woman!) My girlie got me lots of sewing stuff and my Mum indulged my childish side by getting me some panda products from boots! All in all I had a great time. I hope you all did too.
New Years was lovely. I had some shelves put up in the lounge. either side of the chimney breast...We had a nice quiet new year and I know I am very late but I wish you all a lovely 2009 and I hope it brings you lots of joy and good stuff (even if we are going to all be skint).
Did anyone watch 'The diary of Anne Frank'. on BBC 2 last week? How sad was that! Well obviously I know the book and what happens, I read it when I was about L's age. She watched it with me and we both cried when they got taken away at the end.
It is L's 13th birthday on the 23rd. Her absent father has paid for a laptop (how can you top a laptop for a present!) for her through his family, he did that for J's Christmas present. It's okay being absent as long as you spend lots of money once in every six years or so apparently. I shouldn't complain but you know...
I am a bit stuck with lack of funds and no ideas on what to do for her birthday. I was hoping I could find things in the sales but to no avail.
My resolutions: After seeing what I think are hideous pictures of me at the winter ball, I have invested in a rebounder (mini trampoline) oh what fun. I love it and my knees have lost weight (just what you need when wearing full length dresses). I am determined though to be a bit more toned).Once again please accept my apologies for being away so long, but I have missed all of your blogs very much and I am very jealous at how productive lots of you have been.
And to Lovely Josie. Thank you! she sent me a prize from a giveaway for Christmas, I was very happy and surprised to see not one but two of her fabulous moresbags and in my favourite fabrics. So thank you Josie.

P.S. with all the goings on I have missed my first blogiversary.

Nice to 'see' you blogging. You got some lovely gifts.
Yes I watched Anne Frank, I have long been a continued reader of both versions of the book but this TV series had me blubbing my heart out.

Happy new year! Good to see you back.

My friend has a similar situation with her daughter's Dad and I know she dreads what he'll send for birthday's and Christmas. How about some groovy new cushions to go in your daughter's room for her birthday? All girlie's love cushions!

Hi Jennie
Glad you had a lovely time at the ball. That sailor sounds like a good one, looking after you all.
I missed Anne Frank might see if its on catch up.
That will be lovely decorating the bedroom for a birthday surprise. You could cut a big ribbon when she enters her room, like on 60 minute makeover!
take care x Dom
glad you are well and dont jump too hard on that trampoline, I have visions of you flying off

Happy New Year to you and your loved ones, Jennie. I hope you manage to overcome the lack of funds, and to be able to live comfortably. It's hard though sometimes, isn't it?

So pleased things are going well with your sailor. He's obviously a handy sort of chap to have around?!

Anne Frank's Diary is such a wonderful book. I didn't see the series, but I still have the book from my childhood. I'll never throw it away.

Love the shelving... a job well done!
I agree with AnnieB, orange and fuschia would look great for a teenager bedroom.

JENNIE IM OVER HERE!!! Glad to see you back, I thought you had 'done a runner' with your sailor and then I thought Nah, but even if she has I bet shes having a great time. It sounds as though everything is going well. I knew you would be as unhinged as me, when I was a kid I used to pretend I was Delia Smith and do full on cookery programmes in my mothers kitchen, Id bake a cake and talk to the cupboards pretending it was the tv audience........HOW SAD! (I cant believe Ive just told you that) LOL! X

Hi Happy New Year. Getting a it late to say that perhaps? I watch Anne Frank's Diary. My daughter liked it, we explained it but left out some bits as she is only 6. But I was impressed at how she grasped what was going on nd she was gripped by it. She reminded us each evening if we were going to watch it. She asked what happened to her diary and when I said it was made into a book and that she coul read it when she is older Sophie was even more impressed. I love the stage she is at right now. Keen with everything. She has also requested a bedroom update too. Still pink though!

Love all your pressies. Let the absent dad spoil away, kids know who's actually been there and done the hard work. The laptop will break, get a virus, be obsolete in a month or so. Your love and presence (presents) lasts forever.

I've just realised I have repeated myself on my last comments, do excuse me, the memory is going. I hope all is going well for you with your new man, so handy he is a man who can too, the shelves are great, lots of space for all your books and knick-knacks. You have reached your blogiversary, do return soon if you can. x
